Favorite People Food

Ok, what about your favorite people food?

As you know, I was a deaf stray kitten who lived under the bleachers at the football field in Weyauwega, WI.

My favorite people food is Cheetos, salted peanuts and popcorn.

What’s yours?

Favorite Flavor of Food

By katykat, December 1, 2009 8:16 am

Hey everybody…

What’s your favorite flavor?

I’m partial to salmon and tuna (from the people cans, not the cat food cans) and I like to share a few morsels with Hulk.

If Angel gives me cat food fish, I sit in front of my dish and try to look like I’m starving and very put out that she would ty to feed me that.

Usually works, too.

How about you – which flavors of food do you like best?

Let me know – you might have found something I’d like to try as well.

Fresh Green Grass is Tasty

Finally, we got some rain.  My grass really needed it.

I love to go outside and chew fresh, green grass.  But lately it’s been so dry that I’m crunching on brown, dried up stuff – not tasty at all and no help with my digestion.

So, even though it’s raining out right now – I want to go outside.  We all know that most cats hate to get wet, but I’m willing to risk it, just to eat that nice green blade of grass next to the sidewalk.

Grass does seem to help me hack up hairballs, so that’s a plus for me.  But more, I like the fresh taste of a nice clean blade of grass.  Sometimes I get a little added surprise when a plump juicy bug is attached to the blade of grass – mmmm extra protein!

Bon Apetite!

Keep the heat at bay…

It was a miserable few days for me…

Yeah – the fur-less creatures’ central air conditioning went out – it was in the high 90’s and very humid – actually the air was so hot and still (both inside and out) that it took your breath away.

Good slaves that they are, they put a fan on the floor for me to lay in front of until the repair man could get the needed parts and repair the central air conditioning.

Angel brushed me with her Furminator (C) brush to help get rid of the excess loose fur and help keep me cooler.

See, it’s hard for a cat to eliminate the heat – we are often in danger of overheating and getting sick.  In the wild we would look for a cave or a hole deep under something where the air is cooler.

That’s because we only sweat through our paw pads and nose leather.  You may see us panting hard – this is to help cool our bodies down so we don’t overheat.

I didn’t eat much while it was so hot and muggy – that would have meant more heat generated by my body while it was processing my food.  But I did lap up a lot of water.

We’ve only just begun the summer months – so please keep your dear furry companions in mind and allow them a means to cool off.

Heat stroke is no joking matter – for pets or humans!

Cat food – the key word is Variety

Food.

Yes we love it…and yes we will definitely stick our noses in the air if you try to feed us the same flavor two meals in a row.

You don’t like to eat the same meal over and over again for breakfast, lunch and dinner, day after day, do you?  Then why would you assume that we would want to?

Variety - We want variety!

Variety - We want variety!

Please also remember that cats (neutered cats) need 25% animal protein in their diet while pregnant or nursing moms need 40% animal protein.

We’re talking “beef, chicken or fish” as the first ingredient listed.  Not just “meat by-products” either – that junk  consists of stuff like feathers, feet, etc.   This may make it as filler material but doesn’t have much in the way of healthy nutrients.

Also, and this is important…NEVER feed your cat dog food.  Dog food does NOT contain the amino acid called Taurine.  We need it to keep our hearts healthy for a long life and our eyes sharp for stalking and hunting.
