Doctor Office Visit OVER – yeah

Ok – so it wasn’t as bad as I thought.

I am SOOO not happy!

I tossed my crunchies in the car on the way to the vet’s office – no big deal, I do this all the time in the car.

When I got there, an 11 week old puppy tried to snuffle my fur. Yeecchhh

I was actually pretty good – I didn’t screech once!  I could have, I wanted to, but I refrained.  See how good I can be when I want to?

But, no way was I going to cooperate and walk out of the carrier.

Nope – took three people to get me out.

When I saw the needle (remember, since I can’t hear, I’ve learned to use shiny surfaces to see what is behind me) in the reflection of a metal container used to hold tongue depressors, I started hissing.  When the doctor stuck that sharp, pokey needle into me, I had enough.  I whipped around and tried to bite her, hissed some more and growled a little just for effect.

She stuck her fingers in my mouth – I really hate that.  I don’t like anyone touching my face.  She said my gums looked pretty good – that we might be able to make it a few more months before I needed to get my teeth cleaned.  (Remember, they don’t want me there overnight unless I absolutely have to be – I tend to disrupt the daily flow of things with my screeching and meowing.)

Took two people to get me back in my carrier – I fought it because it smelled like puke – icky.

On the way home I meowed a few really pathetic sounding meows, just to make Angel feel terrible about making me go, and got the sticky, foamy saliva ropes that you usually see on bulldogs and other dogs that drool a lot.

All in all, not a bad visit for me.  It beats the alternative where I have to stay overnight!

I’m scared!

I know I come across as totally in control and never afraid, but I’m scared.

Angel says I have to go to the doctor tomorrow for a check up and I know she’s going to stick a sharp pointed needle into me and make me open my mouth up.

I hate that – my mouth is my business!

Angel says I probably need my teeth cleaned – UGH! I thought I took care of that little problem a couple of years ago. In order to get my teeth cleaned, I have to stay overnight at the vet’s nasty smelling place. (It always smells like scared animals – not just cats but d-o-g-s as well – icky!) A few years ago, I made such a horrible fuss that I was invited to come for overnight stays ONLY when it was an emergency. They couldn’t deal with my screaming all night and all day.

But Angel says bad teeth ARE an emergency (figures – she’s a dental hygienist for people).

I don’t want my teeth cleaned and I don’t want any shots! Angel says since I go outdoors for walks and to play with the day-care kiddies when they go for walks, I need my shots. She says not just for my protection, but so the kids will be safe as well.

MEEEOOOOWWWWW!

See - my teeth are fine!

The Hated Bath

Ok, so Hulk cleaned the pellet stove again.

This time, I ended up getting the hated bath…

MEOOWWWW - I hate baths

It should be against the law for a cat to have a bath, in the utility sink, in 5inches of water, with soap and the whole nasty works.

Even though Angel towel dries me and then spends about 10 minutes with her blow-dryer, it still takes HOURS for me to get dry and warm again.

I HATE BATHS!!!!

Brrr – But I still need fresh air

Yup – it’s still cold outside (30 F.) but I need some fresh air.

Katy on leash

Yeah, fresh air here I come!

So Angel trussed me up in my harness and leash and we went outside.

I don’t like the cold on my pads, but I like the lack of fresh air less.

Granted, I didn’t stay outside for a long time (5 minutes tops) but that was long enough to get my fresh air fix and appreciate the heat of the fire when I came back in.

I’m sure glad I’m not a stray cat living under the football bleachers anymore.  Imagine how cold I’d be, and hungry.

I’m lucky Angel and Hulk took me in and saved my life.  I just can’t act like I’m grateful for it…see cats have a need to project the feeling of complete independence to the world.  But I feel lucky and grateful inside – where it doesn’t show.
