Hey, I’d like you to meet Boots, my “cousin”.

He is very relaxed.  I just don’t know how a cat can sleep with all these DOGS around (more cousins).   Yipping and biting and running and snuffling on a cat’s belly.

Ick.  Cats like to be left alone.

But Boots doesn’t seem to be bothered by all the dogs (5 puppies from two different mothers plus 5 other dogs besides), not to mention a “loner” dog that is waiting to get bred.

Here is a photo of some of the puppies, born 12-13-10 (Poodles)  They sure are cute, but so much energy.  And they smell like milk (although that IS a scent I do tend to like!)

But I know they’ll grow up to my size and then they want to run and play and jump – I like to cat nap. 

What can you say….dogs!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Remember to give thanks for all you have:

• toys to play with
• food to eat
• treats to snack on
• blankets to lay on and hide under
• brushes to make our coats smooth
• bed to lay in
• carriers to get us to our doctors appointments
• loving people to pet you and snuggle with
• other pets to terrorize
• a warm roof over your head
• bugs to chase and tasty grass to chew
• the smell of field mice on a nice warm day
• the birds that flock around the feeders
• even the neighborhood dogs who walk past on a leash
• and espcially for our boys and girls in the military who are fighting for our people’s freedoms (both past and present!)

I haven’t had a chance to write to you all for a while.  I guess there wasn’t much on my mind! (haha)

I can’t believe how lucky I am to have found a warm, loving and doting home.  They pretty much treat me like a princess (of course, they should – I am, after all, ME) and make sure I’m well-fed and healthy, get enough exercise to keep my muscles sleek and my coat silky, and love me to pieces (sometimes MORE than I am willing to accept).

Cassey - my new "cousin"

I want to introduce you to another lucky gal – my new “cousin” Cassey.  She is the newest member of another loving home who adore animals. 

Isn’t she cute?  (…for a d-o-g)

Her people are Angel’s niece and her family.  They just lost a dear friend, Tootsie.  While Cassey isn’t Tootsie and can never replace Tootsie’s memory, Cassey will make her own happy memories and be forever embedded in her people’s hearts.

Well, that didn’t last long.

Oscar, the new dog next door (dalmation about a year old) is history.

While he was great with the kids (four girls) and the mom, he was aggressive to the dad  (men in general) – wouldn’t even let dad upstairs.

So, while I wasn’t really attached to him, I’m sad to see him go.

He was a nice dog and had there been no dad, he would have made a superb watch dog for the family.  The girls and mom absolutely loved him.  You couldn’t get a better guard dog for your girls.

Good luck Oscar – I hope you find that perfect home where you’ll be loved and adored, someplace all female!

I hope I have a new friend next door…

Oscar is a one year old, EXUBERANT dalmation that our neighbors got from a rescue place.  He’s fairly well trained, but has so much energy that he scares me.

It would be nice if he were as laid back as his predecessor, Rex.  Since Rex was 14 years old, he didn’t move too fast – that’s how I like a dog.

I still miss Rex, but will try to give Oscar a chance.  It’s very soon, though.

Oscar has big shoes to fill – Rex was a good neighbor and a great watchdog for our house as well as his own.

Rest in peace old fella’.
