Last night I had to play, after the peeps went to bed. I know I was doing something frowned upon, something that would get my tail in a vise…
But I couldn’t hlep myself – I found myself attracted to the coffee table, like grains of iron to a magnet.
When Angel came down for breakfast, she found a coaster, a pot of Carmex and my “red-dot mouse” on the floor. The end of the recliner was up (I had snoozed on it – hence all my nocturnal energy) and Hulk’s blanket was half on the floor.
I’ll just pretend like it was some other deaf white cat who snuck in the house and caused all this disarray. I wouldn’t do that stuff – I’m a princess. She’ll forgive me. She always does.
Yesterday I laid around all day – the only time I got up was to eat, drink and visit the litter box.
Today – I’m in a very playful mood…
So far I’ve played with the green and white gumballs I could steal from Angel (she has a gumball bank on her desk), a wrapped coffee flavored candy from her “in box”, the cell phone charger cord, a stray flower from the Christmas Cactus, a recipe for Irish Cream and her hand sanitizer.
Oh, yeah, and I stuck my paw in her hazelnut coffee (it was barely warm – she had been working all morning).
And now I’m sitting tall on her current project folder (Angel is a freelance copywriter) waiting for my next prey!
Angel doesn’t mind if I play with things – she says it keeps my stalking skills sharp and my muscles supple. I think that’s supposed to be a good thing.
Once in a while, I like to bat at the low-hanging ornaments (although there aren’t too many I can reach anymore – seems they get higher every year!) – and of course I looove to try to climb the tree.
If no one is watching, I even like to play scratch the mouse with the tree skirt. I lay on the floor and kick it with my back legs while I grab it with my front paws…and leave it all messed up.
This usually gets their attention in a hurry. The bigger mess I make, the more attention I get (although it’s not all good!)
They no longer put tinsel on the tree. I guess when it ended up in the litter box, it wasn’t a pretty sight. Plus it’s hard on a cat’s digestive tract. Better to be safe and healthy with a boring tree than to risk me getting sick.
While I love the laser mouse, I also have a penchant for a nice paper grocery bag (with the handles cut off – sometimes I get my head caught in the handles and it doesn’t feel good).
I used to sleep in a paper bag when I was a stray, so I feel safe and cozy in my bag.
My favorite free toy - a grocery bag!
If the laser mouse dot is running around the house and scurries into my bag, I’ll jump on the bag and imprison the dot inside.
If I really feel the huntress on me, I’ll even take nice sized bites out of the bag. My eyes are usually “wild” with the pupils enlarged when I’m in huntress mode.
One thing I don’t get, though…If I drag my bag over in front of the fire, I’ll only be allowed to sleep in it for a few minutes – Hulk doesn’t like the paper grocery bag too close to the fire for some reason. But my bed is close to the heat so I can have a nice little catnap when I want.
What’s your favorite toy? I’d love to hear from you and maybe there’s a toy I’d like to try that you love.
