Happy SpayDay!

Spay Day is an annual campaign of The Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International to inspire people to save animal lives by spaying or neutering pets and feral cats.

To find out more about SpayDay, go to the HSUS site – did you submit your pet’s photo yet?

If you’re looking for a new cat or kitten, consider visiting your local animal shelter.

Locate your local shelter here.

You can find a wide array of great companions at the animal shelters.

And if you’re looking for a purebred, the fact is that many purebred animals can be found at your local shelter.

Purebred or mutt, your local animal shelter is a great place to adopt.

It’s true, you’ll most likely have to pay an adoption fee, but your new friend is worth putting a little money into.

You’ll probably have to agree to spay or neuter your pet, or will pay extra for one that is already “fixed”.  Shots (vaccinations) are a must as well, either from the shelter or from your vet.

It’s always a good idea to establish your new pet with your vet at the outset, so the vet can give your new pet a good checkup and make sure there’s no preventable disease that goes untreated.
